Bank Robber Escapes...in a Police Car

We have all heard of America's dumbest criminal, but this time we may have found one a little more clever than most. A man described as Hispanic in his late twenties robbed a bank in Littleton, Colorado. His mistake seems to be the lack of planning involved. It appears that he had no getaway car ready to make his escape.

Instead of fleeing on foot, the man decided to carjack an elderly woman and take her car. However, a police officer witnessed the carjacking and pursued the man. At this time it is unclear as to whether or not the officer realized that the man had just robbed a bank.

The high speed chase ended when the suspect crashed the stolen car into a ravine. He then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The officer chased the man but lost sight of him. It appears that the suspect then managed to circle back around and steal the officers patrol car. Apparently, the officer left the car open with the keys in it.

The patrol car was found approximately two miles away. Police are still searching for the suspect.
